Designs for Living owners Melissa & David Goodroe were honored to serve on the Host Committee for the Casa Manana Gala. But this honor does not come without a cost. Watching bids closely, she began to bid on items to help raise interest. She was surprised to learn at evening’s end that she had scored a walk on role in the upcoming production of Big River. Thinking she would give the opportunity to her granddaughter was her second mistake. Her granddaughter, an intern at Casa Manana, was working sound that night. “Sometimes you just have to take one for the team!”, says Goodroe. No stranger to the stage and knowing the libretto by heart, she “walked on” in the funeral scene and had the time of her life. “Good things come to those who bid.”, says Goodroe.
